How NIMBY Are We?

I learn a lot from Ray Delahanty, also known as City Nerd. In a video released (on YouTube) today, he ranks the nation’s most NIMBY cities, using a methodology that he explains in the video. But it’s mostly what you’d expect: high property values combined with low rates of growth in housing stock. Happily, Boulder did not make the top ten list, but I thought I’d take a look at how we fare when it comes to growth in housing stock. Well, it ain’t all that pretty. Even when it comes to building ADUs, we were doing better in the 1980s. But, at least what we are building now is mostly higher-density stuff. Still, there’s an unmistakable downward trend.
