So this initial blog entry comes in media res. We are coming up on our seventh meeting and we’ve got a number of projects already underway, some that are already described on our Projects page and some that will be added soon. But, now that we are (literally) on the Strong Towns map, it’s probably worth saying a word of welcome to those who may now discover us.
In most respects, we’ll probably be like a lot of other Strong Towns groups across the country. Chili, beer (or sparkling water), and conversation. And, while South Boulder is in our name, this isn’t meant as a residency requirement; anyone who cares about South Boulder like we do is welcome to the table.
As people express interest in joining our group, we expect to reach out with online orientations to figure out what level of involvement with the group is right for you. As one might expect, it’s the folks willing to pull a laboring oar in our various projects that we’d be most glad to have get involved. Of course, we’re not knocking the conversation (or the chili or the beer), but actual change requires actual action. That said, you need not be a transportation engineer or urban planner to play an important role in the group. We’ve got lots of stuff that needs doing and most of it will be the sort of thing that connects you in a rewarding way with neighbors and other members of the community. So please sign up to our mailing list so that we know you’re there and expect to hear from us with news of upcoming orientations.
