Neighbors United of South Boulder
A Strong Towns Local Conversation on Transportation, Community, & Housing
What is NUSoBo?
Neighbors United of South Boulder is a Local Conversation of the Strong Towns movement, focused on improving the urban fabric of South Boulder. Our projects are aimed at making neighborhoods safer for all modes of transportation (including cyclists and pedestrians of all ages and abilities), building connections between neighbors, and addressing our housing crisis in ways that improve quality of life in South Boulder. Check out our Projects page to see what we’re currently working on.
What is Strong Towns?
Strong Towns is a national non-profit that advocates for cities of all sizes to be safe, livable, inviting, and financially solvent by addressing shortcomings in the post-war development pattern. They encourage a bottom-up approach to addressing these shortcomings, driven by neighbors in local conversations working with local government.
What is the basis for this approach to community enhancement?
The most efficient way to fully understand the Strong Towns approach is to read Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity by Charles L. Marohn, Jr. This book and others from Strong Towns are available from the Boulder Public Library or by clicking the button below.
Why South Boulder?
Our focus on South Boulder is intended to develop and maintain both a sense of community among our members and a focus on aspects of the urban fabric that are known best by those living in the area. That said, we welcome participation by anyone who is committed to the objectives of Strong Towns and concerned with improving the urban fabric of South Boulder.
